The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) is the #1 paintball tournament series and trade show in the United States and the preferred choice of players, teams, sponsors and spectators. Its five premier tournaments each year include the top national paintball event in the country held on the beach at Huntington Beach, California as well as at four NFL stadiums around the country (2008 to include the stadiums for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and San Diego Chargers). NPPL events are held at professional venues with games played on professional turf.
The NPPL follows the “capture the flag” format that is easily played by millions of paintball players each year around the country. Tournaments run Friday-Saturday-Sunday for the convenience of the players and each event regularly sells out its targeted 150 seven player teams, the largest gathering of paintball players competing in one popular format. With no coaching allowed from the sidelines, players must communicate with their teammates and rely on tactical moves to dominate the field for a win. Watching the many different strategies unfold with a clear view of the entire field makes for an intense and suspenseful spectacle for the audience as they watch in great anticipation of the winning move. Only the most skilled paintballers compete in this format as they must rely on snap shooting, communication, stealth movements and impeccable teamwork to succeed.
The NPPL is owned and operated by Pacific Paintball LLC based in Riverside, California, an independent organization which eliminates any conflicts of interest between the NPPL and its sponsors, teams and players. A value added Steering Committee made up of players and sponsors represents the NPPL’s stakeholders and meets regularly throughout the year, shaping the direction of the NPPL.
Pacific Paintball also produces a popular hosted live webcast of each NPPL event as well as a television series (currently airing on Fox Sports Net) highlighting the NPPL players. In addition, Pacific Paintball publishes Paintball 2Xtremes magazine and owns/operates the XPSL regional league as well as the Camp Pendleton Paintball Park. The XPSL, based on the west coast, also features the seven player traditional format; together, the NPPL and XPSL host over 1,300 teams playing this popular paintball format.
